Promote Cruelty-Free Shopping
Starting with the publication of our first “Personal Care with Principle” shopping guide in 1985 and continuing through 13 print editions of our authoritative publication, Personal Care for People Who Care, NAVS has, for more than 30 years, been committed to providing consumers with credible information regarding companies that do not test their products or ingredients on animals.
That commitment continues today with our membership in the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) and its internationally-recognized Leaping Bunny Program. Leaping Bunny certifies companies as “cruelty-free” based on a single comprehensive standard that guarantees consumers that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by a company, its laboratories or its suppliers.
Driven by our mission to effect changes which help to end the unnecessary suffering of animals, NAVS promotes living a cruelty-free lifestyle by making it easier to find cosmetics, personal care and household products that have been certified as cruelty-free by Leaping Bunny. By purchasing only from cruelty-free companies—and encouraging friends and family to do the same—people can spark trends in consumer demand, sending a powerful message for change, demanding more ethical and humane policies from companies who do continue testing on animals and to national and international regulatory agencies who continue to require antiquated, cruel testing methodologies.
Toward that end, as a member of CCIC, NAVS provides a continuously updated list of cruelty-free companies certified by Leaping Bunny. This guide is also available as a smartphone app for iOS and Android devices, or it may be downloaded as a PDF.
