Delaware: Support Adoption, Not Euthanasia

Dogs and cats used for research, like all companion animals, deserve a chance to spend the rest of their lives in loving homes. And you can help make it happen!

SB 101 would require a research facility that uses cats and dogs for scientific research to take steps to provide for the adoption of a dog or cat who is no longer needed for that purpose. A research facility will be required to enter into an agreement with an animal rescue organization to arrange for an adoption.

The Delaware Senate has already approved SB 101 with overwhelming support and now the bill is going to be heard before the House Health & Human Development Committee.

The hearing on SB 101 will be held this Wednesday, March 21, at 3:00 pm.

Please email your written comments in support of SB 101 to the House Health & Human Development Committee Chair, Rep. David Bentz, by 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 21. If you would be willing to testify on behalf of this bill in person, you can attend the committee hearing in the House Chamber, 411 Legislative Ave., Dover, DE 19901.

You may submit written and in-person testimony, but you are requested to bring 14 copies of your written testimony with you, unless you have emailed it in advance.

Please forward this email to friends and family in Delaware to help make this lifesaving legislation the law in Delaware!

Thank you for speaking up on behalf of the animals.
