Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary

When Hurricane Irma was predicted to hit most of Florida, Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary in Gainesville began the process of ensuring each of its residents were “hunkering down” for the weather. Thankfully, no residents (human or non-human) were harmed; however, the primate habitats and roads were damaged, with several trees on the site being upended in the high winds. A NAVS Sanctuary Fund Grant helped Jungle Friends with repairs, as well as improvements that are preparing the sanctuary for storms in the future.
