Update: “King Amendment” Dumped from Farm Bill
Final Conference Committee Bill Sent to U.S. House and Senate for Approval
Update: The Protect Interstate Commerce Act (the “King Amendment”) amendment to the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013, HR 2642, (the “Farm Bill”) was rejected by the Senate and House conference committee. The Farm Bill passed—and signed into law—without including a provision that would have endangered the rights of states to enact meaningful animal and environmental reforms.
Congratulations to tens of thousands of animal advocates who worked together to defeat this measure.
